It’s happening under the radar, which may be a good thing, but believe me, business people all over the country are watching, and trying to figure out what they can do to help.
The franchise business model is under attack. This article talks about auto shops, fast food restaurants, hotels, real estate businesses. But look around your town - many restaurants are part franchise, not just fast-food. A large number of the stores you go to follow the franchise business model, because our society likes a brand name, and a consistent experience.
This is a union-led and lawyer-led project. They want to be able to have ONE company to bully into becoming unionized. If they can get all franchise employees to be considered employees of the corporate store, that’s who they will negotiate with. This has nothing to do with the employees.
If it happens, the world will change rapidly in some VERY unpleasant ways.
